This is a bicycling challenge that will cover approximately 325 miles over four days beginning Thursday in Folsom, traveling through the foothills, across the Central Valley to brush against the Coast Range, then back into the Valley and back to Sacramento on Sunday. It is fun, it is arduous, and it is challenging. The weather in the past has been wonderful, the food is outstanding, and participants camp out every night. All personal gear is transported by the support vehicles and crew (thank goodness!). The riders arrive home exhausted and exhilarated by their accomplishment, knowing they’ve tested themselves (remembering all those training rides!) for a wonderful cause.
Each rider in 2008 must raise $1600; each crew member must raise $250. Three Sacramento HIV/AIDS service providers are the beneficiaries with the AIDS Housing Alliance being one. We have received $25,000 a year the previous two years.
Please welcome back the riders and crew from their epic journey. There will be a short ceremony followed by lunch on the west side of the Capitol at noon on Sunday, May 18th. Call AHA at (916) 979-0896 to make your reservation. This needs to be done prior to the day of the event.
